BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Chairman: Peter Grossman
Mr. Peter Grossman is an attorney who represents the principals of Ogden CAP Properties, LLC and the Seymour Milstein Family. He has served in this capacity for the Family since 2002. Prior to his representation of the Seymour Milstein Family, Peter spent ten years at the J.P. Morgan Chase Private Bank (and its predecessor institutions Chase Manhattan Bank and Chemical Bank), first as a Vice-President and then as a Managing Director. Peter Grossman has also practiced law in two New York City firms, specializing in the area of trust and estates. Peter graduated with a B.A. from Columbia College; a J.D. (with distinction) from Hofstra University School of Law and a LL.M in Taxation from the New York University School of Law.
Director: Jack Barry
Mr. Jack Barry joined Pillsbury in their restaurant division after graduating from college and culinary school. He managed the operations of restaurants in Toronto, New York, Maryland, and Virginia. He began his career in finance at Citibank in their institutional derivatives group and moved on to similar positions at Westpac and Prudential. He then joined Clinton Group, as a partner, to expand their global marketing reach. Jack is currently a partner at White Oak Equity Partners, a private equity firm, based in New York City.
Director: Tony Cianci
Mr. Tony Cianci is a thirty year veteran of the enterprise software industry and has spent the last twenty-five of those years focused on supply chain management. He has been a sales executive with Manhattan Associates for the past thirteen years and works mostly with large Retail clients in North America. Tony has been on the Dog Tag board for three years and lives in Philadelphia area with his wife and three children.
Director: Jay C. Farrar
Jay C. Farrar is the manager of government affairs, and the Washington, D.C. office at Bechtel. He was elected principle vice president in 2011. Jay creates and participates in strategic advocacy at the Federal level, and represents Bechtel in political and policy matters. Prior to joining Bechtel, Jay served as senior vice-president for government relations at another global firm in the engineering and construction industry. Jay also held the position of senior vice president for external relations at The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). In addition, he was the deputy assistant secretary for legislative affairs at the Department of Defense, director of legislative affairs for the National Security Council at the White House, and legislative assistant to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Jay served 23 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he specialized in public affairs and political/military affairs. During his Marine Corps tenure, he also taught at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a recipient of the Department of Defense Award for Exceptional Public Service. Jay is a graduate of Marquette University and has a master’s degree from Central Michigan University.
Director: Vivian Greentree, Ph.D.
Vivian Greentree, Ph.D., joined First Data as a Senior Vice President and Head of Military and Veteran Affairs in February 2014. In this role Vivian created First Data Salutes, a company-wide military engagement strategy to provide the military community with access to career opportunities and best-in-class education resources, while offering premier business solutions to veteran-owned businesses. Before joining First Data, Vivian helped to found Blue Star Families, the largest chapter-based military support organization in the country, where she most recently served Director of Research and Policy. Vivian served as a Supply Corps officer in the Navy, on active duty and in the Reserves. After serving in the Navy, she used her G.I. Bill to attain her Ph.D. in Public Administration and Urban Policy from Old Dominion University, where she earned several awards, including Ph.D. Outstanding Student of the Year, Phi Kappa Phi, The Pindur and the Ted Constant Scholarships, and a University Fellowship. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Maryland University College and undergraduate degrees in Journalism and Public and International Affairs from the University of Georgia. Vivian is married to a Naval Officer and they have two little boys, ages 9 and 12.
Director: Mark Handwerger
Mark R. Handwerger is President and Founder of Bedrock Management Company, specializing in developing and operating businesses in the restaurant industry including Buffalo Billiards, CarPool, and James's Mackey's. He has a history of entrepreneurship, founding several businesses including TipQuick Solutions, Cap Clip Baseball, and Baseball Odysseys. He earned his M.B.A. in Marketing and Entrepreneurial Studies from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. In 1988, he was Shortstop for Unique Giants, a professional baseball team located in Almere, Holland. Today he lives in Washington DC with his wife Kristin and their five children.
Director: Lieutenant General David H. Huntoon Jr., U.S. Army, Retired
General David H. Huntoon, Jr. is the President of D2H Leadership Consulting. He recently completed a forty year career as an officer in the US Army serving as the Superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Some of his senior leadership assignments include service as the Director of Strategy, Plans and Policy, US Army, Commandant of the U.S. Army War College, and the Director of the Army Staff in the Pentagon. He has an MA in Government from Georgetown University, and is a Trustee of the Center for Excellence in Education.
Director: Gail Lione
Ms. Gail Lione is a senior executive, having served until May 2011 as President of The Harley-Davidson Foundation and until May 2010 as EVP, Secretary and General Counsel of Harley-Davidson, Inc. She is an adjunct professor of intellectual property law at Georgetown University Law School and previously taught at Marquette University Law School. Ms. Lione is a Senior Fellow of the Governance Center of The Conference Board and she currently serves as a director of 3 public and private for profit companies including Sargento Foods Inc since 2006, Badger Meter, Inc (NYSE:BMI) since February 2012, and The F. Dohmen Co. since 2013. From 2000 to 2010, Ms Lione served as a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Manufacturers. She is presently a member of the board of trustees of the University of Rochester, the International Senior Lawyers Project, the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Milwaukee Ballet. In 2011 she was appointed as a member of the MillerCoors Inclusion and Diversity Advisory Council in recognition of her commitment to diversity and inclusion; and the National Women's Leadership Council of United Way USA in recognition of her years of service as a co-chair of the Milwaukee Women's Initiative Council. She received her BA degree from the University of Rochester and her JD from the University of Pennsylvania. She is married to Barry Grossman, an Administrative Patent Judge on the US PTO Trial and Appeal Board and they reside in Washington DC.
Director: Tom Richey
Mr. Tom Richey is Vice-President of Business Development, Global Cybersecurity, and Special Missions (CSM) at Raytheon Company. Previously, he worked as a Global Executive at DXC Technology (formerly Computer Sciences Corporation). Tom brings a unique combination of government, industry, and political leadership skills and accomplishments. Prior to joining Raytheon, Tom worked with CSC, IBM, Dell, and Microsoft. Experience over a 30+ year career includes strategic planning in industry; congressional affairs; executive-level sales; and military (U.S. Coast Guard) service.
Director: Brian Roemer
Brian Roemer is Vice President, General Counsel, and a member of Abt's Management Advisory Group. He is responsible for advising the company on legal risk, managing the company’s legal matters, and overseeing partnerships with external legal counsel. Before joining Abt in 2013, Roemer served as corporate counsel at gategroup GmbH, a global airline services company. He worked with the executive team to address global issues including multi-jurisdictional regulatory issues, commercial contracts, and corporate social responsibility. Prior to this, he practiced law at Crowell & Moring LLP. He advised clients on issues such as ethics and compliance, federal regulations and government procurement, and competition. In the past, he worked for several years at a federal government contractor. Additionally, Roemer served as a Naval Flight Officer in the United States Navy.. Roemer holds a J.D. from The George Washington University School of Law, a M.P.A. in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, and a B.A. from the University of Vermont.
Director: Lauren Barnes
Lauren Barnes is the Director and Chief of Staff for Defense, Space and Security within Boeing Government Operations. Here she serves as a liason between Boeing and the Pentagon, NASA and Department of Homeland Security. Prior to her role in D.C., Barnes served as the F/A-18 India Program Manager responsible for defining a competitive and executable Super Hornet Make in India campaign. She partnered with functions and business units across Boeing, the Hornet Industry Team and Indian partners to best position Boeing in creating an aerospace ecosystem with the Government of India. Barnes has held numerous other positions within Boeing’s tactical aircraft and weapons business. Serving as the the Senior Manager of Global Strike Strategy she was responsible for business strategies, market development, investment planning, and competitive intelligence for the F/A-18, F-15 and Weapons businesses. As the Global Strike Chief of Staff she supported the Vice President and General Manager with daily operations and execution. Before this Barnes was a member of the Business Development team for Integrated Logistics, where she managed investments, campaigns and other organization operations. From 2011 to 2013 she was in the Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) Strategy team providing strategic direction for new markets; defense industry and competitor analysis; cultivated merger & acquisition candidates; and developed technology assessments across the BDS portfolio. Before joining Strategy, Barnes was in Finance supporting Boeing Test and Evaluation. She began her career in the Business Career Foundations Program in Southern California, where she rotated through six Finance functions over the course of two years. Originally from Houston, Texas, Barnes holds a Bachelor in Business Administration from Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio and a Master in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis. She serves on the Board of Directors for Almost Home in St. Louis.
Director: Rick Fondriest
Rick Fondriest is a Managing Director in Deloitte Consulting's Federal Services practice. He has been involved in a wide range of consulting assignments specializing in program management, business process re-engineering, system development, identity management, and smart card and biometric technologies. Rick is the Deloitte Consulting lead for Veteran hiring and retention focusing on supporting the Veteran transition into Deloitte and addressing transition challenges. He led the development of Deloitte’s transition program and has spoken on the challenges faced by Veterans. He has supported numerous Veteran-focused efforts including leading Deloitte’s efforts at the 2016-2018 DoD Warrior Games and organizations including Dog Tag Bakery, USO and Student Veterans of America. He started his career working for the U.S. Navy as a program manager responsible for the acquisition of warships.
